Ok… I’m an idiot 😳 I didn’t figure out until yesterday that there were portions of this tracking website that I couldn’t see until I tried to comment on something and needed a log-in to do it. So now I can see all sorts of posts including the post of my homework that I should have been working on all along. So today we went out to get started on our homework and try to catch up! I used the area next to an athletic field at Midlothian High School. The temperature was about 62 deg at 1 pm with some strong winds at times. Big cumulus clouds covered about 75% of the sky. No standing water even after more rain last night. Two ladies playing tennis beyond our tracking area and the occasional car would come by. Laid the 3 short tracks with a slice of hot dog every step and a big bite of chicken inside the gloves. She was very distracted at start of first 2 tracks by various things (the fire hydrant nearby, the guy walking way far off in the distance, etc). But once she got started she would pretty much stay with it, but once or twice bring her head up to look around. The third track, even though it was the longest one at about 25 yards, was her best. She kept her head down most of the time with just a very quick raising of the head when we tracked past a post with electrical boxes on it.

QUESTION : What should you do if your start article has been blown 6 feet directly to the right of your start flag? This happened to us today on our 2nd track. Since Vivi went to the glove, I had her down and gave her a treat. I then moved it to the start flag where I had her down and treated her before we started to track. Later I was thinking that was not the correct thing to do because I seem to remember a discussion at the November tracking test about not being allowed to put the article on the ground to re-scent the dog and I thought that might apply in this case. Some of Vivi's distractions at the start of the 1st track: A decapitated bird (I thought it was a chicken, but the owner of the property said it wasn't a chicken but she didn't know what it was. They do not own chickens so something dropped it there. Knobbin - His friend, Bentley, died earlier this year so he has been alone, but now he has a new friend... hopefully, they ar...
